Eddie Levert is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He is best known as the lead singer of the R&B/soul vocal group The O'Jays. Levert has also released several solo albums, including the Grammy-nominated album, Father & Son. Levert was born in Bessemer, Alabama, and raised in Canton, Ohio. He began singing in church at the age of five and formed The O'Jays with his friends Walter Williams and William Powell in 1958. The group went on to become one of the most successful R&B/soul groups of all time, with hits such as "Love Train" and "Back Stabbers". Levert has also had a successful solo career, releasing several albums and singles. His most successful solo album was Father & Son, which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2004.
